That charge could result in a fine of up to $10,000, and prison terms of one to five years, followed by five years of mandatory parole.

The plea would have him be designated a Tier III sex offender, but Rentas already has that designation from an attempted rape conviction in 2012.

As a Tier III sex offender, Rentas has to register his address every 90 days for the rest of his life and must not live within 1,000 feet of a school, preschool or child care center.

As part of the plea agreement, a second count of sexual battery was dismissed.

According to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, Dayton police began investigating Rentas after an18-year-old female who was known to Rentas reported she was sexually assaulted.

It is not clear when Rentas, who is not in the Montgomery County Jail, will be sentenced.
